Summer Term 2

The Tiger Who Came To Tea

Our focus story is the from the author Judith Kerr. We shared the story and have been thinking all about tigers. We have loved creating our own cafe like in the story.

Pop Art

Our school will be celebrating its 60th anniversary of opening and we have been learning all about the 60's. We looked at the 1960's artist Andy Warhol and created our own interpretation of his work.

As part of our school's 60th celebration we learned facts from the 1960's, learned 'The Locomotion' by Little Eva and dressed in 60's inspired clothes!

People who help us!

Following the children's interests in police officers and their role we introduced our uniform prop box to support the children's learning. They had lots of ideas about other peoples occupations. They extended their learning outside by building their own police station and doctors surgery!

The Tiger's Tea Party

This week we have been getting ready for our tea party. On Friday, we made our sandwiches by following the instructions. We spread on the butter then chose either ham, cheese or jam to go in the sandwich. We loved making cups of tea! We were very surprised to see a real tiger at our tea party!

smileyLittle Mover's Stay and Playsmiley

What a great morning we had with our grown up's! With help from Michelle we were able to showcase all the different activities that we have taken part in over the year. We showed the adults our warm up, then some of the dances we have learned and then we played games and races! We think they loved watching us and also joining in with us! Kythen was star dancer and Everly and her Dad received a certificate for their fabulous dance moves!

Mr Gumpy's Outing by John Burningham

Over the last few weeks of our nursery year our focus book will be Mr Gumpy's Outing. This week we have shared the story and drew our own representations in our work books. We have sequenced the story, remembering the order the animals asked to go on the boat and what Mr Gumpy told them what not to do! Outside some children used the large construction equipment to make a huge boat that we could all fit into!

Forest Friday - BBQ Week!

Ada told us all about going to her cousin's house for a BBQ! She told us about the spicy sausages and the burgers, it sounded delicious and lots of fun. So, following her idea we got our own BBQ out and the children have organised their own BBQ's in our role play, inside and outside! So we decided that on Forest Friday we would become fabulous BBQ chefs, complete with our own chef hats and make 'smores' - a toasted marshmallow squashed between 2 biscuits!

Unfortunately, because of the wind the smoke was blowing to hard for us to be outside so Mrs Raine cooked the marshmallows and then we made our smores inside!

Sports Day 2024 - We had lots of fun competing in all the different races! Running, jumping, balancing, crawling and relay.

Floating and Sinking

We looked at different objects and predicted which of them would float or sink.

Cork, wooden block, lolly stick, stickle brick, sponge, button, glass bead, fork and a pebble!

What do you think happened?

Find things in your home and see if you can predict the outcome!

The Police

The Local community support police officers visited our nursery today. They told us all about their role. We learned about all the different sections of the police and the animals that they use.

We saw how their real walkie talkies worked which was a lot of fun. Then they let us try on uniforms and helmets.

We loved having a look in the police car!
