St. Joseph the Worker Feat Day

It has been 150 years since St Joseph was declared Patron Saint of the Universal Church. To mark the occasion, the Pope Francis has proclaimed a ‘Year of St Joseph’, a special year for us to focus on St Joseph, the husband of Mary who acted as Jesus’ father on earth. St. Joseph is also the Patron Saint of Workers and on May 1 we celebrated the feast of St Joseph the Worker. To celebrate, each class has dedicated a day to ‘woodwork’ across the school. This has given the children an opportunity to discuss and reflect on how hardworking Joseph was. We know he was a carpenter and we can picture him working in a workshop to provide for his family, Mary and Jesus. We can also picture him teaching his skills to Jesus.
