Our Parish

St Oswald’s Parish

St Oswald’s Primary School has very close links with St Oswald's Church and the people of the parish. Staff and pupils regularly attend St. Oswald’s Church.

We believe it is very important that there are strong links between home, school and parish to support the children in their faith journey. The closeness of the Parish Church to the school means that the children can walk to Church to take part in services, and that visits can easily be arranged to enhance the children’s understanding of the role the Church plays in our everyday school life.
Father John, the parish priest, regularly comes into school to talk to the children and to find out about their learning. Parent catechists also visit  school to talk about their role in the  church.
The school is committed to raising money for good causes and regularly supports charities such a CAFOD and Mission Together. The pupils in Year 5 and Year 6 attend events organised by the Youth Mission Team and our school fund-raises for this Diocesan organisation.
