New Arrivals in Reception!
In Reception we have recently had the exciting arrival of two new members in our class. Rosie and Goldie the Goldfish have recently joined our Reception class. We are going to be carefully taking care of them by feeding them each day, cleaning them out and learning more about fish as part of, 'Our Wild World' topic.
It has been very busy this week across the whole school as we had a very exciting Elmer Day! This week it has been Elmer's 30th birthday and we have taken part in lots of different activities throughout the week. It has been an exciting week of lots of activities including Elmer writing, bright and colourful repeating pattern in Maths, Elmer artwork, decorating Elmer biscuits, making a gigantic 30 for Elmer's 30th birthday and even raising money for Elmer Day by baking and buying special Elmer cakes for the whole school.
We would just like to thank everyone who helped to raise money for this very special occasion - to raise money for the St. Oswald's Hospice.
Our Farm Visit!
We had a fantastic visit to Whitehouse Farm this week and we all had a lovely day! during the day we took part in lots of different activities we started by going around the farm and feeding the larger animals such as; goats, Shetland ponies, donkeys, sheep, llamas and even alpacas! We learnt lots of new facts about each animal and we had to carefully hold out our hands to feed each animal - it really tickled!
After lunch, we had a very exciting and bumpy tractor ride around the large sheep and cow field. Then we went into the petting zoo to hold lot of different animals including; mice, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits and skinny pigs. We also had the opportunity to stroke a snake and a bearded dragon - this was very exciting!
All of Reception class had a fantastic day at the farm and we would just like to thank all of the parent helpers who came on the trip, you were a very big help!
To start off our Minibeast topic we have been very busy bees on a minibeast hunt all around the school. We ticked off all of the little creatures we found on our checklists and we found lots in different hiding places! We were very excited to find lots of different minibeast like lovely ladybirds, buzzing bees and wiggly worms.
The children in Reception have been very busy today making a Minibeast Hotel for all of their creepy crawly friends they have been finding in the Outdoor Area. The children first talked about the different objects they would need to make the hotels, then we went into the Outdoor Area, the forest and onto the field to find various items. We gathered; leaves, grass, bark, sticks, soil, pine cones and flowers to make the hotels comfy and cosy for the minibeasts.
