Class trip to Ouseburn: The children had a fabulous day at Ouseburn, visiting both Victoria Tunnel and the Farm. Learning how Basil spent his time during WW2, we found out about the blackouts and the bombing before visiting Basil’s local air raid shelter, Victoria Tunnel. It was cold and damp inside the tunnel where we had our own blackout. Finally we fed the animals at Ouseburn Farm, just like the evacuees did and Dot gave us tips on how to grow our own food and make do and mend. The children beamed and the sun shone, a great experience.
PE Festival: The school had a Playforce Festival helping the children develop different skills. Year 4 perfected their squats and lunges, learning the importance of a good standing position. They had great fun participating in lots of different games.
Bikeability: Year 4 had a lovely day to practise riding their bikes safely. Preparing for the Level 1, they learnt how to look after their bike, the importance of wearing a bike helmet and how to use the roads.
Skipping: We are very proud of the skill and dedication Year 4 has shown in preparing for the Tyne & Wear Skipping Final. They were fantastic ambassadors for the school and were rewarded with silver and bronze medals. A great team!
