Science- Germs and Disease
During our science lesson on 'germs and disease' the children discussed key events and scientists who helped to develop our understanding of disease. After this the children then worked together to role play a scientist who was important in developing this understanding including: Edward Jenner, Joseph Lister and Louis Pasteur. Each group then performed their role play in front of the class.
Show Racism the Red Card
Today the children in Year 6 were involved in a 'Show Racism the Red Card Workshop.' During the workshop we discussed our world views and the various influences on those views. Our workshop leaders discussed stereotypes and what is appropriate language when discussing sensitive issues around race.
Science -Fossil Skeletons
The children in Year 6 have been leaning how fossils are made and how they can inform paleontologists about the animals that lived many years ago. In this activity the children had to match the fossil skeleton to the correct dinosaur by looking at the similarities in the bone structure.
This week in our French lessons, Madame Smith taught us the vocabulary for describing body parts. Madame Smith also taught us a French song all about body parts.
The Year 6 children have been coached this half term by Mr Simpson. He has been teaching us the main principles of Tri-Golf. As you can see the children have been learning the correct position when getting ready to putt.
Internet Safety Day
The children in Year 6 have been talking about how to stay safe when using the internet. Firstly the children asked to draw an everyday object such as an apple then the children were asked to draw a pictorial representation of the internet, this created lots of discussions of how to define the internet. After that, the children were given lots of situations which allowed them to question how they would feel and what action should we take if they experience them.
World Math Day-Triangles
In our Maths lessons this week we have been investigating the area of triangles and parallelograms. In today's lesson we were given a series of problems to solve/answer which allowed the children to follow the trail to the end.
