Welcome to Reception Class!
What a busy and exciting week! During our first week in Reception class, we have been very busy exploring the different areas in our classroom and outdoor area.
We have been making new friends and enjoying time to get to know each other. We have really enjoyed exploring the different areas with our new friends.
We have been practising recognising and writing our names, finding numbers and exploring our mark marking.
Our Memorable Experience
In week 2 we completed our ‘Memorable Experience’ by meeting all of the important people in school. We found out they all help to look after us and keep everyone safe in school. We asked them lots of questions such as; 'What is your job?' What do you use?' Where do you work?' 'How do you help to keep us safe?'
We really enjoyed finding out more about the different important people in school and getting an opportunity to speak to them properly,
This week we have been doing learning lots of new things about 2D shapes. We have enjoyed working with our friends to explore and investigate a variety of shapes. We have been talking about the properties of 2D shapes and how we know what their names are. We have been shape printing, making pictures using shapes, testing which shapes float or sink, drawing shapes and even going on a shape hunt around school!
Reception Class and Year 5 took part in an exciting opportunity of planting 60 tree saplings.
The Tree Appeal donated a variety of trees and we took part in a pledge with the Woodland Trust to plant the trees as a way to; support wildlife and their habitats, help with climate change and develop more exciting outdoor learning opportunities in school. The Reception children used this opportunity to work with their Year 5 Special Friends to plant the trees. Lots of Reception Class's parents came along to help the children plant the trees. This was a very exciting day and we would like to thank all of the parents who came to school for the afternoon to help us.
