Welcome to Reception Class!
Wow! We have had a very busy first few weeks in Reception Class. We have been doing lots of exploring, making new friends and learning together.
We have had lots of time getting to know our new learning environment and building new friendships.
World Mental Health Day
In Reception, we have been celebrating World Mental Health Day where we took part in lots of different activities focusing on being happy, sharing happiness and kindness. To start the morning, we took part in yoga where we did different yoga movements and breathing exercises. This was lots of fun! We also read the story, 'The Colour Monster' and talked about the different emotions and feelings we all have. During choosing time we were very busy getting creative, we made our own Colour Monster, decorated our own monsters and drew pictures of times we have felt different emotions.
This week we have been learning about the season - Autumn. We have been exploring all of the beautiful colours of this seasons by creating beautiful pictures, reading one of our favourite stories, 'The Gruffalo', making our own woodland creatures in the Playdough Area and making lots of delicious treats in our Gruffalo Cafe.
Hedgehog Hibernation Homes
Today we have had a very busy day. We are learning all about hibernation this week and our morning started with a letter from Snuffles the Hedgehog who needed help building a nest for the Winter months. So we decided to design and plan our hedgehog homes by sharing ideas of the best materials. We had lots of great ideas including - leaves, straw, newspaper, old towels, stones and feathers. Later in the day, we worked in teams to build our hibernation homes and we are very proud of them!
Children in Need
In Reception, we have had a very exciting and busy day for Children in Need, where we have done lots of different Pudsey and Blush activities. In the morning we joined Joe Wickes for his last 10 minutes of exercises from his 24 hour challenge. We had lots of fun joining in with the different movements and we gave Joe Wickes a big clap at the end for all of his hard work. In the afternoon, we have been very busy with lots of Pudsey activities, we made Pusey masks and had lots of fun!
We would all like to say thank you so much for all of your kind donations and support to support those in need.
