Christmas Dinner Day

Our Christmas Party!

We had lots of fun at our party. We enjoyed dancing, joining in with mini disco songs, party food and party games! Then we watched a special message sent to us from 'Mary Twinkletoes' who works in the North Pole for Santa Claus! She told us she had been to our nursery and had been watching us being very good and kind and working hard. We were thrilled to hear that we were on Santa's good list! She left us a special present to enjoy before Christmas!

ADVENT

We have been learning about Advent. We have changed our Prayer table to purple as this colour represents the season of Advent. As part of Advent, we are preparing for Christmas in lots of ways.

The Gingerbread Man

Once Upon A Time

This week we are beginning to share traditional fairy tales. We have shared the stories of 'The Three Little Pigs' and 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'.

Next week, we are learning about 'The Billy Goats Gruff' and 'The Gingerbread Man'.

We learned about materials. What are things made from?

'CEMENT' - We learned that the bricks were stuck together with cement. We made our own 'sticky icing cement'.

Goldilocks ate Baby Bear's porridge! So we thought we would make some more!

Nursery Rhyme Week

This week in nursery we have taken part in 'World Nursery Rhyme Challenge'. We learned and practised a rhyme or song every day and enjoyed lots of activities based on it. On Friday we built our own stage where we held our very own Nursery Rhyme Show! We loved it!

We were presented with a certificate and a treat for completing the challenge.

The World Around Us

We have had a very busy week in nursery learning lots about celebrations, festivals and charity.

The beginning of the week we thought about Remembrance Day. We learned about the Poppy and what it represents. We made our own poppy display which you can see on our nursery window. We used a tearing technique to tear the tissue paper into little bits to stick on our poppy shape. We held a two minute silence on Wednesday with the whole school.

On Thursday we learned about the Festival of Light- Diwali. It was very interesting learning what Hindu families do as part of the celebration. Our favourite was the Rangoli patterns, they are very beautiful and colourful.

Finally we have had great fun and we are a bit worn out doing our Joe Wicks workouts! We loved dressing up for nursery and being part of the Children in Need event. I think eating our spotty biscuits was the best!

Spooky Spells and Fireworks!

We have loved our first week back following our half term break. We were able to look at all the photos of your Halloween celebrations through our Google Classroom! The children loved sharing with their friends what they had done and Mrs Raine and Miss Porter got some great ideas!

We have shared lots of stories this week - 'Room on the Broom', 'Meg and Mog' and 'Winnie the Witch'. We made our own spells and Mrs Raine turned us into mice! We made our own natural spells by using things from our forest. On the 5th November we learned about Bonfire Night and fireworks. We added chalk fireworks to a night time skyline, we used bubble wrap to create fireworks and we made our own 'Safe Sparklers' which we used to make large firework shapes to some firework music!
