This terms focus in our P.E. lesson will be Hockey. In our first lesson this week we concentrated on basic principles such as dribbling and control of the ball.
SATS are over!
All the children in our class have worked so hard over the past six months. They have now completed the tests and deserved a party to celebrate. Well done to all of Year 6!
Mental Health Awareness Week
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week year six have been thinking about how we can be mindful during our daily lives. We discussed the need for time to ourselves to collect our thoughts and explored the techniques to do this. We really enjoyed mindful colouring and meditation.
Ice Creams for Year Six!
In recognition of how hard the Year 6 children have worked over the past few months each child enjoyed a lovely ice cream. It was the perfect day to enjoy an ice cream with raspberry sauce on top.
During our topic "Light" the children investigated how light can be reflected from an object to a mirror. We discussed how different surfaces reflect light in different ways. Each group the carried out small investigations including: reflection tracing, periscopes and mirror writing.
The children in year 6 attended the 6th annual KS2 OOA Festival at South Marine Park. The children navigated an orienteering course in check point order and attempted to complete all the problem solving activites along the way.
Our session with the Playforce team was really enjoyable. They were involved in activities which tested their speed and reactions. The team also showed the children how to correctly carry out exercises such as squats and burpees.
Youth Ministry Team Primary Festival 2018
Yesterday the children in Year 6 joined other pupils from Catholic schools across the Diocese. We spent the day celebrating the end of their primary education and will look forward to moving on. Thank you to everyone who donated tinned food to the Newcastle and Justice and Peace Refugee Project.
What a fabulous time we all had at Robinwood! A truly wonderful experience which included activities such as zip wiring, canoeing, raft building etc.. Here are some photographs of our trip. Enjoy!
Year Six End of Year Performance
Well done to all the children in Year 6, our play 'Olivia' was a total success. The amount of dialogue the children needed to learn was huge and we are so pleased with their acting skills. A big thank you to the parents who helped with their costumes, they looked amazing.
