“We walk in the footsteps of Jesus so that we may have life in all its fullness”

John 10:10

Mini Vinnies

St. Oswald’s Mini Vinnies

The Mini Vinnies group is a junior section of the St. Vincent de Paul Society (SVP).

This society promotes Christian love in action.

At St. Oswald’s a group of Key Stage 2 children have voluntarily given up some of their playtime to become Mini Vinnies.

Children are encouraged to put their faith into action.  Members give support to people in their community, meeting them face to face and trying to help them in any way they can.

Mini Vinnies learn about some of the problems around us and how they can help to make a difference.

St. Vincent’s life is a great reminder for us all to find ways to help those around us.

Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the Kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14

St. Oswald's Mini Vinnies helped to organise the Oscar Romero bags. Every class will have a bag with information about Oscar Romero, a prayer and a book for children to write or draw there own prayer.

Macmillian Coffee Morning
After a discussion in a Mini Vinnies meeting, a coffee morning in aid of Macmillian Cancer Support was organised. The Mini Vinnies served cake and chatted with parents/carers. They also sold tickets for a guess the height of a cake tower competition.

Harvest Festival

Thank you to all of you who donated food to The Key Project and Hospitality and Hope. Our Mini Vinnies helped the charity workers to pack and load it into their vehicles. Both charities were very grateful and asked us to pass on their thanks on behalf of the many local people that they are able to support.
